While traveling around Europe after college with a Thomas Watson Fellowship I spent some time with Gavin Bryars in London. He had been helping Brian Eno produce the Obscure record series, and suggested I give Eno a tape of Pea Soup for consideration. I called him up, made a date to drop by his house with a tape (the chutzpah!) He had a cold, wore a bathrobe, was friendly if taciturn. Many months later I received this letter of rejection.
